Jaguar TCS Racing kende een uitdagend raceweekend in Portland tijdens de 13e en 14e ronde van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship seizoen 2024. Ondanks sterke prestaties, waaronder een polepositie in race 13 en een podiumplaats in race 14, bleef het resultaat achter bij de verwachtingen. Desondanks behoudt het team de leiding in het teamklassement, terwijl alle focus nu uitgaat naar de seizoensfinale in Londen op 20 en 21 juli.
Mitch Evans behaalde een derde plaats in de tweede race van het weekend, wat hem naar de tweede plaats in het rijdersklassement bracht. Nick Cassidy daarentegen ondervond problemen door contact met een andere rijder en een noodzakelijke vleugelwissel, wat resulteerde in een finish buiten de punten. Hij behoudt echter een voorsprong van twaalf punten in het rijdersklassement.
Het team richt zich nu volledig op het volgende raceweekend in Londen. Het team gaat vol voor de titel in het constructeursklassement, terwijl Nick Cassidy en Mitch Evans zullen strijden om het rijderskampioenschap te winnen. Rondes 15 en 16, de laatste twee races van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship seizoen 2024, vinden plaats in Londen op 20 en 21 juli.
James Barclay, Managing Director, JLR Motorsport en Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal, zegt: “This has been a weekend of two halves. It’s been positive to end with a podium for Mitch today after all the hard work, but ultimately this weekend was one where we had the performance potential for so much more. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way due to a combination of things both out of and in our control. As always we will look to see what we could do better and make us stronger as a team. We now focus our attention to the season finale in London. We’re leading the Teams’ World Championship and we’re first and second in the Drivers’ so we are in a great position and it’s all to play for. London is a special race for us, we’re in front of the home crowd with lots of support from fans and colleagues and we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got to fight for championship success.”
Mitch Evans, coureur Jaguar TCS Racing, #9, zegt: “These races are really hard to execute, but as a team we keep delivering and deserved some big points today. Ultimately it was a really hard-fought weekend, but really great to get some more points. I had to get my elbows out which then made it very difficult to take Attack Mode because you lose position. The second Attack Mode got me track position but killed my remaining energy so I couldn’t fight for the win. We now head to London where we will battle with Porsche and do everything we can to try and win this Teams’ World Championship.”
Nick Cassidy, coureur Jaguar TCS Racing, #37, zegt: “On a positive note I think on Saturday I had 25 of the best laps I’ve driven in Formula E. I managed the energy, the car was very good and we positioned ourselves well. On Sunday, I had my strategy and was in a really good position. At the time of the contact I was around P9 with Attack time remaining and was up on energy on the majority of the field. I have a 12-point lead but have scored zero in two races – so it could be much worse. I think we’re going to be strong in London. I’m looking forward to it – it’s one of my favourite tracks on the calendar – and it’s going to be a fight. Stand up and bring it on!”
