Mitch Evans en Nick Cassidy hebben een historische 1-2-finish voor Jaguar TCS Racing behaald in de straten van Monaco – het meest iconische stratencircuit in de autosport. Deze eerste overwinning voor Jaguar in Monaco – race 8 van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2024 – valt precies in het weekend waarin Jaguar zich met Jaguar TCS Racing tot en met 2030 verbindt aan het GEN4-tijdperk van de Formula E.
Na hun sterke prestaties in de kwalificatieduels startte Nick Cassidy de race vanaf de derde plaats en Mitch Evans vanaf de vierde. In de eerste bocht wisselden de Jaguar-coureurs van positie en na elf ronden lagen ze eerste en tweede. Het team en de coureurs slaagden er perfect in hun strategie uit te voeren. Evans breidde eerst zijn voorsprong uit terwijl Nick het veld op afstand hield. Vervolgens werden de rollen omgedraaid totdat Evans in ronde 17 weer de leiding pakte. Ondanks dat er twee keer een safety car op de baan kwam, waardoor de race uiteindelijk twee ronden langer werd, brachten Evans en Cassidy hun Jaguars I-TYPE 6 als eerste en tweede aan de finish. Als kers op de taart scoorde Nick ook nog een extra punt voor de snelste ronde van de E-Prix.
Door dit perfecte resultaat vergroot Jaguar TCS Racing zijn voorsprong in het teamklassement in het wereldkampioenschap tot 44 punten. Bij de rijders stijgt Nick Cassidy naar de tweede plaats en Mitch Evans naar de vijfde.

I’ve led the race here in Monaco many times and have achieved podiums on the streets of Monte Carlo but to have my first win of Monaco and of the season has come at such a good time for me. I need to keep scoring big points consistently and I hope that I can keep this momentum heading into Berlin. Most importantly, this win is for Colin Giltrap and his family. Colin has supported my career for over 20 years and I wouldn’t be racing and following my dreams without him.”
Nick Cassidy, coureur Jaguar TCS Racing, startnummer 37: “Mitch was a deserving winner of the Monaco E-Prix. I was lucky enough to be in this position with him the other way around last year, so I am so happy for him and for everyone here at Jaguar TCS Racing this year. We had the performance today on my side of the garage, we struggled slightly more in practice and qualifying but we were there when it counted, so great team result overall. We can all be really proud of our efforts today.”
Races 9 en 10 van het ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2024 vinden op zaterdag 11 en zondag 12 mei a.s. plaats in de Duitse hoofdstad Berlijn.
